John Lennon’s words rang so true to me while in a taxi on the way to the hospital to have my first “Beautiful Boy”.
Two months earlier than expected and unprepared for all that was about to unfold, I had to put my faith in the physicians and the people around me that everything was going to be okay. Busy planning my final months of work, the approaching sale of our condo and our upcoming move from Toronto to Cobourg, the thought of a baby arriving early never crossed my mind. My husband and I thought we had all the time in the world to finalize move details, style our new home and setup for baby. What we didn’t expect was for me to spend the next month in the hospital NICU with our little preemie.
With so much left to be done to close our existing home, and a wild amount that needed to happen at our new heritage property upon taking ownership, we took a deep breathe and placed the world on pause.
Moving is stressful and time-consuming in the best of conditions. The unexpected curveball or logistical challenge adds a layer of complication that can feel insurmountable. I have lived in urban and rural settings.
Having grown up in a military family, I understand the emotion tied up in moving and starting anew – the hurdles in relocating children, packing up memories, and making your new house feel like a home.
I also understand the challenges of living apart from family and the logistical complications of helping manage a property and living conditions when time and distance are great.
Coupled with years of experience in marketing and management, I have learned how to relate to people and plan effectively – to hear what is being said and react thoughtfully.
I understand the demands of work, life, finances, and health.
